The Story of Wolf’s Cry
by Cassie Rose

“I wrote Wolf’s Cry in my mother’s car when I was 12. I had just heard a news report of a young girl who died of AIDS. It was devastating to me that someone so young with one unsafe move had her life stolen from her, not to mention the one who took it away.

I wrote the song about AIDS trying to bring awareness to guys and girls my age about having safe sex and thinking about the consequences. Because we all know kids are going to have sex, so why aren’t we encouraging a safe way of doing it?”

Cassie Rose: "Wolf's Cry"

After Cassie debuted with her first record, “Girl of Mystery” in 1999, she decided to take the next step and record a nationally released single called “Wolf’s Cry” with White Fang Records. The local Dallas act, Rubix Groove, fronted by the now famous Ryan Cabrera, recorded the music for the single and performed with Cassie at several events.

She decided to donate portions of the proceeds from this single to 2 charities; Wolf Mountain Sanctuary and Dallas Legacy Foundation and Hospus for AIDS and HIV victims. From there, a tour of the Southwest was scheduled for The Cassie Rose Band, and opening act Madhatter, another local talent. Cassie then organized a benefit show for Wolf Mountain in Southern California titled “Rockin’ for the Wolves”.

Then, in December 2000, Cassie and White Fang Records teamed up to hold 4FEST, a benefit concert and silent auction for Dallas Legacy Foundation and Girls Inc. The event brought in over 2,000 people and was a great success for both charities.

The year was quite an accomplishment and Cassie looked forward to more years in music to come.
